My name is Mallery Thurlow. I am the Executive Director of the Haiti Foundation Against Poverty, a registered non-profit charity which helps provide Haitian children with life necessities like food, clothing, shelter, and education. We need your help to make an impact after the recent tragedy which befell this impoverished nation. Our organization’s plan for 2010 had been to purchase a building to use as a permanent orphanage for impoverished, parentless children in Port-au-Prince. Following the devastating January 12 earthquake, we are directing our resources to disaster relief and infrastructure repair in Port-au-Prince and the surrounding area — a process that begins with providing much needed shelter for Haitian children, as well as for relief workers and medical personnel. Our goal is to raise $225,000 to bring a stable, prefabricated structure to Port-au-Prince as soon as possible. This will serve as a base for medical relief and food preparation during the day and lodging during the night until this crisis has passed, at which point it this building will serve as the foundation of our permanent orphanage. In the wake of Wednesday’s severe aftershocks, we are redoubling our efforts to raise $225,000 to bring a prefabricated shelter for the homeless and injured children of Port-au-Prince. As you can imagine, shelter as a whole is now at a premium in this devastated island territory, and we need your help to bring this too Haiti. Any funds donated on this website will go to fund this effort. Your contribution is deductible from your 2009 taxes. Will you help with a donation today? Thank you for your support.
